Keeping Secrets
Kennedy is not very good at keeping secrets. Like most children, she is brutally honest. I try my best to enjoy it. I know that when she is a teenager, I will have to beg her to get more then a yes or no answer.
She is especially bad at keeping gifts a secret. When she was four years old, I took her shopping to buy a Christmas present for her father. I gave her a few choices and she decided on a glass mug with a metal plate on the front. We had in engraved with her nickname for him....BIG DADDY!
On the way home, I tried to explain to Kennedy why we shouldn't tell daddy about his gift. I thought she understood the importance of the surprise. I was wrong. The first thing she did when we walked in the door was tell Shane that she got him a cup and it says "BIG DADDY" on it. He was confused by the cup reference so the surprise was still intact.
Last week, Kennedy and Shane worked on a Christmas present for me. I know it involves paint because Kennedy's shirt was dirty. She has tried to tell me what it is four times. I think she may be more excited for me to open that present as she is to open all of hers. Yeah right!

Another one bites the dust....
Kennedy had a visit with the dentist today. She was very impressed with the new dentist that I picked out. The waiting room had a free dispenser of sugar free gum and she got to watch sponge bob while she was sitting in the dentist chair. Can you get any better than that?
Her other front tooth was very loose and even the allure of tooth fairy money was getting her to wiggle it out. While the dentist was checking for cavities, he made a comment about how loose it was. He looked at me across the room and silently asked me if I wanted him to take it out. I nodded and one quick pull later, Kennedy was dreaming of a visit to the dollar store with her tooth fairy cash.
Kennedy was cavity free so the tooth fairy should slip in an extra dollar for her tooth brushing efforts. If you run into her, please let her know.

An unplanned visit to Santa's lap
Kennedy went to visit Santa Claus yesterday evening. I would love to post a picture but I was not prepared. We spent Saturday evening window shopping at several different malls. We were looking for an angel tree but we did not have any luck. We passed the Santa Booth and the line was very short so we stopped in.
She was not shy or scared at all. I am very glad that we are finally passed that point. She sat on his lap and repeated the sentence that we practiced while in line.
"I have been a good girl this year and I would like My Little Pony Butterfly Island for Christmas."
I wish I had a video camera to record her performance. She said thank you, took her candy cane and we were on our way. She spent the rest of the trip trying to convince me to give her some make up for Christmas. I think I might cave in and give her some lip gloss and body glitter.
Merry Christmas Everyone.
