Keeping Up With Kennedy

Back to our daily schedule.

It was so hard to get Kennedy up this morning. She has had a nice long break from getting up at 7:30 to get ready for school. She moaned and she groaned. I stole her blanket and tickled her back. At long last, she made her way into the bathroom after giving me a dirty look.

She is so much like me in the morning. I remember getting so mad at my mom. She used to sing to get me up. I hated it but I still never got up on my own. I hope that I can learn from my experiences but so far nothing I try gets her out of bed without a lot of pain and grief. Maybe we are doomed to repeat the past? I wonder if my grandmother used to have to torture my mom to get her out of bed? I will have to ask the next time I get a chance.

One down and a mouthfull to go.

Last night I took Kennedy to see Camelot at the Hale Center Theatre in West Valley City, Utah. The show was okay. Kennedy enjoyed the music and costumes. The best part of the show happened right before intermission. Kennedy's bottom left tooth has been loose for about a month. Shane and I have been encouraging her to wiggle it. I made her a tooth fairy pillow to get ready for her visit.

Just before intermission, Kennedy started to get upset about the fact that it was almost ready to come out. She was scared that it would be painful. I took her out of the theatre. We spent about 10 minutes in the ladies room. She started crying when she saw that she was bleeding. (I don't think my dear girl will ever be a doctor with her fear of blood.)

She got a lot of sympathy from people passing in and out of the restroom. I asked her to let me pull it out but she wouldn't let me. I finally got her to give it one quick twist and the tooth was out. She was surprised by the lack of pain and we both cheered.

When we left the restroom, we were approached by a young woman that worked at the concession stand. She had heard all the noise we made and offered Kennedy a free treat. After that Kennedy was more excited about the free candy bar then the lost tooth.

We took the tooth home and placed it in her magic tooth fairy pillow. While in dream land, the tooth fairy placed three dollars in the pillow... One bill, one Susan B and one Sacagawea. When she woke up the next morning and discovered all the money she received, she started wiggling on her other bottom tooth.

Flaming Red Hair

Kennedy has been bugging me for a month about having red hair. She really want to dye it. I was very hesitant because I could not find a temorary hair color that was red. We finally found one at Harmon's last night. It should wash out after 8 to 10 shampoos. She wanted to surprise Shane so he hid downstairs during the half hour it took for the color to set. She was very patient while I hovered around her to keep the color off the furniture and carpet.

The tub was red during the rinsing process. Kennedy was disapponted becasue her wet hair did not look very red. After, we dried it she was very excited. Shane and I both think it looks really great. The red color really matches her skin tone.

We were a little worried that she would get in trouble for it at school. We found out the next day that they have a policy about bright hair color. Luckily, the red is close enough to being natural. I guess we will have to save the purple dye for next summer.

A way to find out what is new in Kennedy's life. Don't miss out on anything. I will try to post something once a week. Please leave a comment. I will read them all to Kennedy.
